General Rules

Section 1   This society is called Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (JSCC).
Section 2   JSCC operates with the aim of providing the opportunities for information exchange between the members, and contributes to the advances in the field of coordination chemistry.
Section 3   In order to attain the aims described above in Section 2, JSCC operates the following projects.
   1 JSCC organizes or co-organizes research meetings, study meetings, and other meetings concerning coordination chemistry.
   2 JSCC collects and delivers the information with the aim of promoting the advances in coordination chemistry. As part of such activities, JSCC publishes its self-organized journal, Bulletin of Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (BJSCC).
   3 JSCC operates other special activities which are aimed at promoting the advances in the field of coordination chemistry.
Section 4   The membership of JSCC consists of four classes: ordinary members, Emeritus members, student members and members from legal entities.
   1 Ordinary Members:Ordinary members of the society are those who are interested in the research field of coordination chemistry and also approve the activities towards achievement of the purposes of the society.
   2 Emeritus Members:A person over a full 70 years old who has once become a President of JSCC may be recommended as a candidate for the Emeritus member. A person over a full 73 years old who has great contribution to advances in the field of coordination chemistry may also be recommended as a candidate for the Emeritus member. A foreign researcher who has great contribution to the development of coordination chemistry in Japan may also be recommended as a candidate for the Emeritus member. The Emeritus membership must be approved at a general meeting of JSCC.
   3 Student Members: are the students who are interested in the research field of coordination chemistry and also approve the activities towards achievement of the purposes of the society.
   4 Members from Legal Entities:are the legal persons who approve the activities towards achievement of the purposes of the society.
Section 5   The person who wish to obtain the membership in JSCC must submit his/her application and due to the president of JSCC (hereafter abbreviated as President). If a member has not been able to pay his/her due for a long period, his/her name may be removed from the register of JSCC based on the decision made by the Council.
Section 6   JSCC is operated by the following officers.
President (1 person)
Vice Presidents (3 persons)
Council board members (17 persons) (There shall be 15 Councilors—including the 3 Vice Presidents—and 2 Councilors affiliated with a company)
Section 7   Officers are elected from JSCC members based on the rules as noted separately.
Section 8   The President genralizes the activities of JSCC. The Vice President assists the President. In case any accident disturbs the activity of the President, the Vice President should act as an alternate for the President.
Section 9   The general meeting of JSCC must be called by the President, and must be held once a year. A chairperson at each general meeting must be elected by mutual vote among the members.
Section 10   Meetings of the Council must be called by the President, and are generally held three times a year. The Council is comprised of the President and the Councilors. Any decisions at the Council should be made under the attendance of a half or more members of the Council, where the attendees include those whose commission has been sent to the President prior to the meeting. Meetings of the Council are chaired by the President.
Section 11   The president may organize the future project committee (Project Committee) to consult and discuss possible problems for JSCC in the future.
   1 Candidates for the members of the Project Committee are nominated by the President, and the final decision must be approved by the Council.
   2 The Project Committee shall consist of around ten persons, two of which will be from affiliated corporations, and their period of tenure shall last until the end of the President’s period of tenure. There shall be no obstructions to reelection to the committee.
   3 The chairman and the vice-chairman of the Project Committee shall be determined by the President’s nomination.
   4 One representative from the Young Coordination Chemists’ Association of Japan (YCCAJ) must be added to the member of the Project Committee. The term of office obeys the rules by the YCCAJ.
Section 12   The fiscal business year for the JSCC shall start on March 21st every year and end on March 20th the following year.
Section 13   JSCC organizes an auditing committee comprised of a person. The auditing committee is elected by mutual vote among the Councilors. The term of office is one year.
Section 14   The JSCC office is located under the care of Department of Life and Coordination-Complex Molecular Science at the Institute of Molecular Science.
Section 15   A Secretary-General, a Secretary and all required workers shall be assigned to the JSCC. The Secretary-General and Secretary shall be nominated by the President, and approved by the Council. The period of tenure for the Secretary-General shall be two years, and consecutive reelection shall be limited to two terms of tenure as a basic principle. The Secretary-General shall retain the right to appoint and dismiss workers. The Secretary shall assist the Secretary-General and take over the duties of the Secretary-General when deemed necessary, and the period of tenure shall be two years and there shall be no obstructions to reelection.
Section 16   The President can organize an additional committee if necessary.
Section 17   Any changes made in the rules of the Society must be approved at the general meeting of JSCC.

The present rules have been effective since October 1, 2003.
