Rules for JSCC Student Lecture Awards

We establish this Award in order to promote advances in coordination chemistry and JSCC.

Section 1 We establish the Student Lecture Awards (here after the “Lecture Awards”) that will be given to presenters with outstanding contributions to promote advances in coordination chemistry, among the lectures which have presented at Annual JSCC Symposium.
Section 2 The Lecture Awards shall be given to about ten presenters every year.
Section 3 In order to be eligible for the Lecture Awards, a candidate shall be a member of JSCC on the date of giving the lecture in the winning year, besides a candidate shall be a graduate student.
Section 4 The Lecture Awards shall be given to an individual who contribute to main portion of the presentation, and whose originality is admitted clearly.
Section 5 The Lecture Award shall consist of a certificate. The winners will be announced in JSCC website and in the Bulletin of Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry and be given the certificates.
Section 6 The JSCC Student Lecture Awards Review Committee (here after the “Review Committee”) shall be responsible for the selection of the Lecture Awards. Some JSCC members approved by the JSCC councils shall be the Review Committee members, and the vice president of JSCC shall be the chairman of the Review Committee.
Section 7 Selection of candidates shall be made in accordance with the provision of “Additional Rules for Student Lecture Awards”.
Section 8 These rules may be amended by a careful discussion at the Council and an approval at a general meeting of JSCC.
These rules become effective from October 1, 2007.

Additional Rules for JSCC Student Lecture Awards

(General rules)

Section 1 These additional rules lay down required items for the Student Lecture Awards (here after the “Lecture Awards”) grant according to the provision of section 7 of “Rules for JSCC Student Lecture Awards”.

(Entry)

Section 2 One application from each research laboratory shall be accepted for this award. Applicants shall apply in alignment with the guidelines listed in the Bulletin of Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (BJSCC) issued for the relevant fiscal year or in Symposium guides, etc.
Section 3 Past winners of the Lecture Awards shall not, in principle, be permitted to apply for the Lecture Awards again; as an exception, however, past winners who won the Lecture Awards while studying Master’s courses shall be permitted to apply again when studying Doctoral courses. Past winners of the Poster Awards for Young Scientists at Annual JSCC Symposium (hereinafter “Poster Awards”) and past winners of the Lecture Awards who meet the criterion for exception above shall be permitted to apply for the Lecture Awards only two years after winning the Poster Awards; however, they shall not be permitted to apply using the same research material. Persons shall not be permitted to apply to both the Lecture Awards and the Poster Awards in the same year.
Section 4 The executive committee of Annual JSCC Symposium shall offer necessary material for the Lecture Awards grant, and shall cooperate to run smoothly the Lecture Awards review.

(Review and Review Committee)

Section 5 The review shall be made according to the section 1 and the section 4 of Rules for JSCC Student Lecture Awards, taking valuation of presentation into consideration.
Section 6 The chairman of the Review Committee call the Review Committee. The Review Committee should be held with the answers or the attendances of  two thirds or more of the Review Committee members.
Section 7 The review shall be held by voting.
Section 8 These additional rules may be amended by a careful discussion and approval at the Council.
Additional remarks As a basic rule, the Award winner shall contribute a conference review on the winning research to “Bulletin of Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry” (BJSCC) which will be published in the next year.
These additional rules become effective from October 1, 2007.
