6th JSCC International Award for Creative Work

The Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (JSCC) invites nominations for “the JSCC International Award for Creative Work”. This award will be presented to a researcher who has contributed to the development of coordination chemistry through outstanding and pioneering works. Candidates should not have Japanese citizenship and should be an early career researcher (no more than 15 years post-Ph.D. at the nomination deadline). The selection of this award will be made in accordance with the nomination guidelines for the award. The award will be presented in the 70th Conference of JSCC at Ibaraki University (September 19 – 21, 2020). Detailed guidelines can be found at this page. Candidates will be considered equally, regardless of self-recommendation or recommendation by others.

Nomination Guidelines

1.Eligibility

(a) Researcher has contributed to the development of coordination chemistry through outstanding as well as pioneering works.
(b) Does not hold Japanese citizenship, regardless of race, gender, age (see (c)), religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, presence of disabilities.
(c) An early career researcher (no more than 15 years post-Ph.D. at the nomination deadline).
(d) In the case of recommendation by others, the person who recommends the candidate must have been a member of JSCC for more than 1 year.

2. Documents requested

For the first screening
(a) Description of the achievements and contribution to qualify the candidate for the award in 5 – 20 lines.
(b) List of representative publications (free format, within 1 page of an A4 or US-letter paper).
These documents should be also submitted in the pdf format.

For the second screening
(a) Description of the achievements and contribution (free form): Summary of research within 2 pages of A4 or US-letter papers, including figures and tables.
(b) List of publications (free form): No more than 10 items including original peer-reviewed papers, reviews, accounts, and books.
(c) Recommendation Letter (for a candidate recommended by others): The format can be downloaded from the JSCC website.(pdf / word

3. Remarks for preparation of the documents

(1) Provide the documents by a word processor and print each item clearly.
(2) Document format: 40 characters/line and 40 lines/page with use of 10 – 12 points for a font size.

4. Screening process

The screening will be made in the period from the deadline to the end of March of 2020. In addition to the screening of documents, an interview will be set in the period from the middle of February to the end of March of 2020. The schedule of the interview will be provided to the candidates selected by the nomination committee. Note that the travel expense is not provided by JSCC.

5. Deadline, the address, and inquiry

Deadline:
For the first screening: January 6, 2020.
For the second screening: February 3, 2020.
